Cell Organelles

Nucleus Controls the cell's activities
Ribosomes Produce proteins; found on Rough E. R.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (S.E.R.) Produces fats (lipids) for the cells
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (R.E.R) Contains ribosomes; produces and packages proteins for the cell
Mitochondria Produce energy for the cell
Cell Membrane Regulates materials entering and exiting the cell; also called the plasma membrane
Cell Wall Only found in plant cells; provides stucture and support for the cell
Chloroplast only found in plant cells, traps sunlight to make food (sugar)
Vacuole Storage unit for the cell
Cytoplasm Gel-like fluid that contains all of the cell's organelles
Organelles Membrane bound structures in the cell
Eukaryote A cell that has a nucleus and organelles
Prokaryote A cell that does not have a nucleus or organelles
Golgi Body (Apparatus) Transports proteins and other materials in the cell
Plant Cell A eukaryotic cell that is square shaped and contains a cell wall and chloroplast
Animal Cell A eukaryotic cell that is round shaped and does not have a cell wall or chloroplast
Nucleolus Contains the genetic information for a cell
DNA DeoxyriboNucleicAcid; genetic information for the cell
