The Nervous System

TermDefinition
Neurotransmitter Chemicals stored in the Neurotransmitter swellings.
Effectors Muscles and Glands.
Synapse When two neurons come into close contact.
Transmission When the impulse moves from receptors to the central nervous system.
Interneurons Connect sensory and motor neurons.
Threshold Minimum stimulus needed for an impulse to be carried.
Peripheral All the nerves that are outside the central nervous system.
Neurons A neuron is a nerve cell.
Reception The stimulus must be detected.
Motor Carries impulses from CNS to effectors.
Sensory Carries impulses from sense organs to CNS.
Refractory An impulse cant be sent .
Integration Brain decides how to react.
Stimulus Something that causes a response..
Response When they are stimulated by neurons.
