Organells

cellsthe building block of life
Lysosome Small round structures that break down large food molecules.
Mitochondria Provides energy for the cell.
Ribosomes Protein making sites.
Cell wall Supports and protects the cell; found only in plant cells.
Nucleus Control center of the cell.
Cell membrane Controls movement of liquid in and out of the cell.
Endoplasmic Reticulum Transportation system of the cell; made up of tube like passages.
Cytoplasm Clear, thick, jelly-like substance.
Chloroplast Contain chlorophyll; necessary for photosynthesis and found only in plants.
Vacuole Large, round, water- filled sacs in the cytoplasm; for storage.
Nuclear membrane Protects the nucleus and allows material to pass in and out.
Golgi Body Packages and releases materials into the cell.
