QuestionAnswer
oberving Using your five senses to gather information about the world around you.
Qualitative observation Think of Quality -observations made using your five senses
Quantitative obervation think Quantity- observation that are based on measurements.
inference to explain or interpret an observation using prevuis experience
predictions making an inference about a future event based on current or past experience
the x axis also known as horizontal axis on a graph
the y axis also known as vertical axis on a graph
independent variable the vertical that is purposely changed in the test by the investigation during an experiment
controlled variable the variable that are kept the same or constant
dependent variable the variable that is a result of the independent variable
uncontrolled variable something you did not anticipate or thank would happan
hypothesis An educated guess or prediction that must be testable if of then
data table A way to organize tables into clams with independent variables always on the left and the dependent variables on the right
line graph A type of graph that is used when data is over place o long time such as popular changes in a persons grouth
bar a graph A graph that is used for descriptive data, such as car colors (comparing/contrasting data)
incerements When numbering a graph, the numbers you choose are called increments
range When numbering a graph, the numbers you choose are called increments
metric system The system of measurements that is used by all Scientists (Based on the number 10, so it is easy to convert units)
