Levels of Organiation

Carbohydrates Main source of energy and structural supports
Lipids Macromolecule that stores energy and are hydrophobic
Nucleic Acids macromolecule that stores and transmits genetic information
proteins macromolecule that controls rate of reactions, fights disease, forms muscle and bone.
Atom the simplest piece of matter, one basic unit of a chemical element
Molecule Two or more atoms bonded together by chemical bonds
Cells Basic unit of life
Tissue Group of similarly specialized cells that perform certain functions
Organ Group of tissues that work together perform a special function
Organ system Group of organs that work together to perform one or more function
Organism An individual living thing that can react, grow, and maintain homeostasis
