Tissue A group of similar cells that work together to perform a specific job
Organ A combination of two or more tissues that work together to perform a specific function in the body
Organ System A group of organs that work together to perform body functions
Organism Anything that can independently carry out life processes
Trait A distinguishing quality that can be passed from one generation to another
Selective Breeding The controlled breeding of organisms that have a certain trait
Natural Selection The process by which organisms with certain traits survive and reproduce at a higher rate than organisms without these traits
Heredity The passing of traits from parent to offspring
Gene Segments of DNA that carry hereditary instructions and are passed from parent to offspring
Population A group of individuals of the same species that live in the same area
Community All of the populations of different species that live in the same area
Ecosystem A community of organisms and its nonliving environment
Producer An organism that uses sunlight directly to make food
Consumer An organism that eats other organism
Stimulus Anything that causes a reaction n an organism
Environment Everything that effects an organism
Adaptation A characteristic that helps an organism survive and reproduce in its environment
Nucleus The organelle that contains a eukaryotic cell's DNA
