passive transport The movement of materials into a cell without the use of energy.
active transport The movement of materials through a cell membrane using energy
mitosis Produces only body cells that are identicle to the parent body cell
dominant allele An allele whose trait always shows up in the organism, even if there is only one of that allele present
recessive allele An allele that is hidden when a dominant allele is present
homozygous Having two identical alleles for a trait Example: HH or hh
heterozygous Having two different alleles for a trait Example: Tt
Punnett square A chart that shows all the possible combinations of alleles that can result from a genetic cross.
diffusion The process by which molecules move from an area in which they are highly concentrated to an area in which they are less concentrated.
