Respiratory System

QuestionAnswer
What happens when you inhale? The diaphragm contracts and moves downward at the same time as the rib muscles. The pressure decreases and air rushes into your lungs. You inhale.
What happens when you exhale? The diaphragm and ribs relax and the pressure increases. The air rushes out of your lungs. You exhale.
What is gas exchange? When air enters the alveolus, and oxygen passes through the capillary wall into the blood. The reverse happens with carbon dioxide.
What is breathing? When air moves in and out of your lungs.
What is respiration? When a chemical reaction happens in your cells.
