What is classification? The grouping of organisms based on similarities
What is the scientific name composed of? The Genus and species.
What were the three categories Aristotle grouped organisms into? Flying, swimming and running/walking
What are the eight levels of taxonomy? Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, species
Which level of taxonomy has the most number of organisms? Domain
What are the three groups of the domain level? Bacteria, Archaea and Eukarya
What are the four kingdoms? Protist, fungi, plants and animals
What is eukaryote? An organism with an nucleus
What is the name of the kingdom of many celled organisms that move and eat food? Humans are classified as members of this kingdom. Animals
What level of classification are phylum divided into? Class
What is the domain of ancient bacteria? Archaea
What is the eighth level of classification? species
Which level has the fewest number of organisms? species
What are heterotrophs? Organisms that cannot make their food.
What are autotrophs? Organisms that can make their own food.
What kingdom are lions, bears and humans a part of? The animal kingdom.
What kingdom are mushrooms a part of? The fungus kingdom
What kingdom are roses, daffodils and grass a part of? The plant kingdom
What kingdom are euglenas and paramecium a part of? The protist kingdom
How did Aristotle organize organisms? Based on how they move
What is the definition of species? A group of organisms that are able to mate and produce fertile offspring.
