7TH GRADE Biology; Classification vocabulary

TermDefinition
Archaebacteria One of the six kingdoms. -unicellular -autotrophic or heterotrophic -prokaryotes
Binomial Consisting of two parts.
Binomial nomenclature A two-part name given to all organisms. -genus -species
Classification Grouping things based on their similarities.
Dichotomous (taxonomic) Key A series of paired statements that describe the physical characteristics of different organisms.
Eubacteria One of the six kingdoms. -unicellular -autotrophic or heterotroph -prokaryotes
Taxonomy The scientific study of how living things are classified.
