Prenatal Care

| Anemia | A condition caused by an iron deficiency. |
| Mid-wife | A nurse practitioner who has extensive training and experience delivering babies and providing pre-natal care. |
| Folic Acid | A vitamin that is important for forming the baby's neural tube. |
| HCG( Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) | Hormone produced in pregnant women. |
| Trimester | A period of about 3 months. |
| Toxemia | A condition that affects a woman's kidneys, heart, or blood during pregnancy. |
| Miscarriage | Refers to the natural ending of a pregnancy. |
| Amniotic fluid | Regulates the baby's temperature, cushions the baby against possible injury, and allows the baby to mover around easily; |
| Umbilical cord | A flexible cord that contains blood vessels and connects the baby to the placenta. |
