Cell Processes

TermDefinition
Photosynthesis When cells use the energy in sunlight to make food.
Respiration When glucose is broken down in the cell releasing energy.
Fermentation The energy releasing process that does not require oxygen.
Cytokinesis The final stage of the cell cycle following mitosis.
Cancer A disease in which cells grow and divide uncontrollably.
Chemotherapy The use of drugs to treat a disease.
Stomata Where carbon dioxide enters the plant.
Chlorophyll A pigment in green plants that captures the energy in sunlight.
Mitosis The cells nucleus divides into two new nuclei.
Smoking A major cause of lung cancer.
Heterotroph An organism that cannot make its own food.
Mutation A change in DNA.
