Cell Transport
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Diffusion | Particles move from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration. |
| Facilitated Diffusion | Particles cross a membrane through a protein channel |
| Osmosis | Movement of water across a semi-permeable membrane |
| Isotonic | Water is balanced on either side of the membrane |
| Hypertonic | Water will move to that side of the membrane |
| Hypotonic | Filled with water |
| Passive Transport | To cross a membrane without extra energy |
| Active Transport | Requiring ATP (extra energy) to cross a membrane |
| Endocytosis | A particle is packaged into a vesicle to be brought into the cell |
| Exocytosis | A particle in a vesicle is forced out of the cell |
