Observation | a direct method of gathering information in an orderly way |
inference | making logical conclusions |
scientific method | gather information and answer questions |
hypothesis | a testable explanation of a situation |
serendipity | the occurrence of accidental but fortunate results |
experiment | investigating a phenomenon in a controlled setting to test a hypothesis |
control group | group used for comparison |
experimental group | the group exposed to the factor being tested |
independent variable | the only factor that can change in an experiment |
dependent variable | the factor that is measured, and relies on the independent variable |
constant | a factor that remains fixed during an experiment |
data | information gained from observations |
safety symbol | a logo designed to alert you about a specific danger |
