Dominant | Type of allele that always expressed |
Trait | Characteristic of an organism such as hair color, eye color |
Allele | Form of a gene, can be dominant or recessive |
Heterozygous | Genotype that contains one dominant and one recessive allele (example: Dd or Rr) |
Genotype | Alleles an organism has (example: Dd, DD, or dd) |
Phenotype | Physical appearance of the organism (example: blond hair vs. brown hair) |
Recessive | Type of allele that can be overshadowed by a dominant allele, it can only be expressed when homozygous |
Meiosis | The Law of Segregation explains that alleles separate into two different gametes because of this process |
