| Homozygous Recessive | Genotype that contains 2 recessive alleles (example: dd or rr) |
| Dominant | Type of allele that always expressed |
| Trait | Characteristic of an organism such as hair color, eye color |
| Allele | Form of a gene, can be dominant or recessive |
| Heterozygous | Genotype that contains one dominant and one recessive allele (example: Dd or Rr) |
| Genotype | Alleles an organism has (example: Dd, DD, or dd) |
| Phenotype | Physical appearance of the organism (example: blond hair vs. brown hair) |
| Recessive | Type of allele that can be overshadowed by a dominant allele, it can only be expressed when homozygous |
| Meiosis | The Law of Segregation explains that alleles separate into two different gametes because of this process |
