Trait the specific forms of a characteristic that are passed onto offspring through genes.
Heredity the passing of traits from parents to offspring.
Genetics the study of heredity.
Gregor Mendel the father of genetics.
Dominant Trait the trait that shows up more.
Recessive Trait the trait that shows up less.
Genes a set of instructions for an inherited trait.
Alleles different forms of genes represented by letters.
Phenotype The physical form of genes represented by words.
Genotype The genetic makeup of a gene represented by letters.
Purebred/Homozygous two forms of the same allele (Rr,rr).
Hybrid/Heterozygous two different alleles (Rr)
Probablity The likeliness an event will occur.
Punnett Square A diagram used to predict the outcome of a certain cross species or breeding.
Meiosis cell division which reduces the number of chromosomes in half.
Selective Breeding Process in which humans breed other animals and plants for certain traits.
Inbreeding Breeding two closely related organisms.
Hybridization Idea that atomic orbital fuse to form newly hybridized orbitals.
Cloning Producing similar populations of genetically identical individuals.
DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) A molecule that encodes genetic material that makes up an organism.
Mutation A permanent change of the nucleotide sequence of the genome of an organism.
Genetic Engineering To manually add new DNA to an organism.
