Plants

QuestionAnswer
xylem The vascular tissue through which water and nutrients move in some plants.
stomata The small openings on the undersides of most leaves through which oxygen and carbon dioxide can move.
transpiration The process by which water is lost through a plants leaves.
phloem The vascular tissue through which food moves in some plants.
stem carries substances between the plant's roots and leaves
leaves capture the sun's energy and carry out the food-making process of photosynthesis
epidermis The outermost layer of skin.
guard cells Specialized cells around the stomates which regulate the amount of water vapor that leaves a plant.
photosynthesis The process by which some other organisms capture light energy and use it to make food from carbon dioxide and water.
