Daulton Microscope

Base Supports the microscope
Arm Used to support the microscope when carried
Stage Supports the slide being viewed
Eyepiece / Ocular lens You look through to see the specimen
Fine Adjustment Knob Moves the stage slightly to sharpen the image
Coarse Adjustment Knob Moves the stage up and down for focusing
Stage Clips Holds the slide in place
Diaphragm Is used to regulate the amount of light on the specimen
Objective Lens Magnification ranges from 10x to 40x
Objective Turret/ Revolving Nosepiece Holds the high and low power objectives, can be rotated to change the magnification
Illuminator / Light Source Project light upwards through the diaphragm, the specimen and the lenses
