| Autotroph/Primary Prducer | Organism that is able to capture energy from sunlight of chemicals and use it to produce its own food |
| Photosynthesis | Process used by plants to make food |
| Chemosynthesis | Process in which chemical energy is used to produce carbohydrates |
| Carnivores | Organism that obtains energy by eating animals ex: snakes, dogs, and cats |
| Herbivores | Organism that obtains energy by eating only plants ex:deer and cows |
| Scavengers | Animal that consumes the carcasses of other animals ex: vultures and raccoon's |
| Omnivores | Organism that obtains energy by eating both plants and animals ex: humans, bears, and pigs |
| Decomposers | Organism that breaks down and obtains energy from dead organic matter ex: bacteria and fungi |
| Detritivores | Organism that feeds on plant and animal remains and other dead matter ex: shrimp, snails, and crab |
