What are three functions of the alimentary canal? The purpose of the alimentary canal is to aid the body with the processing of food (digestion), and intake of nutrient (absorption), and the elimination of wastes
Describe the functions of the tongue, salivary glands, teeth and pharynx in the process of digestion. tongue - pushes food between the teeth and mixes the food with saliva and mucus salivary glands - they produce saliva teeth - to chew up food for easier digestion pharynx - the cavity in the back of the mouth that sends food where it should go
Why is it important to chew one's food well? so that your other body parts don't have to work so hard to digest things
