tropism a plants growth response toward or away from a stimulus
hormone produced by a plant is a chemical that affects how the plant grows and develops
auxin one important plant hormone
photoperiodism A plant's response to seasonal changes in length of night and day
short-day plant flower when nights are longer than a critical length
long-day plant flower when nights are shorter than a critical length
critical night length the number of hours of darkness that determines whether or not a plant will flower
day-neutral plant flowering cycle that is not sensitive to periods of light and dark
dormancy a period when an organism's growth or activity stops
annual-flowering plants flowering plants that complete a life cycle within one growing season
biennial angiosperms that complete their life cycle in two years
perennial flowering plants that live for more than two years
