| Phloem | vascular tissue through which food moves. |
| Xylem | where water and minerals travel in the vascular tissue. |
| Pollen | tiny structures that contain cells that will later become sperm cells. |
| Seed | structure that contains a young plant inside a protective covering. |
| Embryo | the young plant that develops from the zygote, or fertilized egg. |
| Cotyledons | seeds in the embryo. |
| Germination | when embryo begins to grow and pushes out the seed. |
| Root Cap | protects the from injury from the rocks as the root grows through the soil. |
| Cambium | next layer of cells that divide to produce new phloem and xylem. |
| Transpiration | process which water evaporates through leaves of a plant. |
