Specialized Cells

Specialized Cells Definition

TermDefinition
Red Blood Cell Moves easily through small blood vessels and carries oxygen to other cells; disk-shaped, smooth and doesn't contain nuclei.
Skin Cells Allows gasses to pass through but keeps out bacteria and serves as protection; thin, flat, and overlapping.
Bone Cells Structural support as well as protection and allows movement at the joints; oval shape, with spike like projections.
Nerve Cells Conducts messages rapidly, and passes messages to other cells; very long with branches to send rapid messages.
Muscle Cells Fits tightly together so they can contract and relax; long and narrow.
