Specialized Cells Definition
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Red Blood Cell | Moves easily through small blood vessels and carries oxygen to other cells; disk-shaped, smooth and doesn't contain nuclei. |
| Skin Cells | Allows gasses to pass through but keeps out bacteria and serves as protection; thin, flat, and overlapping. |
| Bone Cells | Structural support as well as protection and allows movement at the joints; oval shape, with spike like projections. |
| Nerve Cells | Conducts messages rapidly, and passes messages to other cells; very long with branches to send rapid messages. |
| Muscle Cells | Fits tightly together so they can contract and relax; long and narrow. |
