| Density-Dependent Factor | environmental factor, such as predation, disease, and competition, that depends on the number of members in a population per unit area |
| Density Independent Factor | environmental factor, such as storms and extreme heat or cold, that affects populations regardless of their density |
| Dispersion | arrangement of a population in its environment |
| Emigration | movement of individuals away from a population |
| Immigration | movement of individuals into a population |
| Population Density | number of organisms per unit of living area |
| Population Growth Rate | how fast a specific population grows |
| Age Structure | in any population, the number of individuals in their pre-reproductive, reproductive, and post-reproductive years |
| Demographic Transition | population change from high birth rates and death rates to low birth rates and death rates |
| Demography | study of human populations based on size, density, movement, distribution, and birth and death rates |
