what is homeostasis? all the functions of your body which try to maintain a constant internal environment
what are bodily levels that need to be controlled? 1. ion content 2. water content 3. sugar content 4. temperature
how do we get ions in our body? through our food which is then absorbed into the blood
how can we lose ions? through sweat. the kidneys then remove the excess from the blood, this is then got rid of in urine
how can water be lost from the body? 1. skin as sweat 2. lungs in breath 3. kidneys as urine
how is body temperature controlled? by the brain, its sensitive to the blood temperature in the brain and it receives messages from the skin that provide information about skin temperature
what temperature do enzymes work best in the human body? 37 degrees
how is blood sugar level controlled? eating carbohydrates puts glucose into blood from the gut normal metabolism of cells removes glucose from the blood, exercise removes much more glucose hormone insulin helps maintain right level of glucose so ur cells get constant supple of energy
