TermDefinition
Cell basic building block of all life
Ribosome make proteins; acts like a manufacturing plant
Mitochondria makes energy for the cell; like the powerplant
Endoplasmic Reticulum sends proteins around the cell; like FedEx or the mail
Golgi Body (Apparatus) packages proteins to sen them out of the cell; like Air Mail
Organelles little parts of cells; like organs of the cells
Cell Membrane protects the cell, lets some things in or out
Cell Wall only in plants & bacteria; surrounds the membrane; provides structure; like a wall
Nucleus holds instructions for the cell; acts like the brain
DNA the instructions for the cells; like a book
Prokaryote cells that don't have a nucleus, ex. bacteria
Eukaryote cells that DO have a nucleus, ex. animal or plant cells
Chloroplast in plant cells; use the sun to make sugar for the plant
Cytoplasm cushions all cell parts; like Jell-O
Protein found in living things; your muscles, meat, beans
Carbohydrates found in living things; Starch-potatoes, rice; Sugar-strawberries
Lipid found in living things; related to fat; potato chips
Nucleic Acid found in living things; DNA or RNA
