habitat place where an animal lives and finds what it needs to survive
environment everything that is all around you
desert a dry, extremely hot environment that receives very little rain and where very few plants or animals can survive
tropical rain forest a very wet and humid environment where the temperature stays the same all year round and where hundreds and thousands of animals and plants are found
woodlands forest an environment that has many, many trees and has different seasons throughout the year, providing a place for many different kinds of animals of all different sizes to survive
pond a small, freshwater, contained (still) environment for freshwater fish, frogs, turtles etc. and plants like lily pads, cattails, and tall grasses and weeds
ocean an immense saltwater environment that is contained and provides a home to thousands of different fish, mammals, and plants
river a moving water environment that can have either salt water or fresh water
lake a contained water environment having either salt water or fresh water
Arctic an extremely cold environment with lots of ice and snow where very few animals and almost no plants can survive
