Classification

The Classification of Living Things Holt Science Lesson 5

QuestionAnswer
species a group of organisms that are closely related.
genus the level of classification that includes similar species. Comes before species.
domain represents the largest difference among organisms. (Bacteria, Archaea, Eukarys)
Bacteria Domain of prokaryotes that usually have a cell wall and reproduce by cell division
Archaea Domain made for prokaryotes
Eukarya Domain made of eukaryotes
Protista Kingdom of single-celled or multicellular organisms like algae and slime molds
Fungi get energy by absorbing materials (yeasts, molds, and mushrooms)
Animalia contains organisms that do not have cell walls. They get energy by consuming other organisms
Plantae consist of multicellular organisms that have cell walls.
