TermDefinition
Allostearic site The site where a allostearic substrate enters to turn the enzyme on or off by causing confirmational change to the active site.
Biological pathway The process in which many enzymes work together to form an end product because the product of one enzyme becomes the substrate for another enzyme
Catabolism & Anabolism The break down of a larger molecule into simpler molecules. Anabolism is the building of molecules into long chains. Catabolism requires water to break down the bonds in a hydrolysis reaction while anabolism creates a water molecule from condensation.
Enzyme/Substrate complex The situation where an enzyme has locked with the substrate and is reacting
Enzyme (basic) Name refers to the substrate it works on, e.g maltase for maltose. Enzymes can work both ways, e.g maltase will turn maltose into glucose when there is too much maltose, and will also turn glucose into maltose when there is too much glucose
