All about the cell

TermDefinition
Active Transport Active transport requires the cell to use energy.
Amino Acid The smaller molecules that make up protein
Atom The smallest unit of an element
Carbohydrate An energy rich compound made of the elements carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen
Compound When two or more elements combine chemically
Diffusion The process by which molecules move from an area of high concentration to low concentration.
DNA The generic material that carries information about an organism that is passed from parent to offspring.
Element Any substance that cannot be broken down into smaller substances
Enzyme A type of protein that speeds up a chemical reaction in a living thing
