Vocab on Gentics

What is heredity? Heredity is the passing of physical characteristics from parents to offspring.
What is a trait? A trait is each different form of a characteristics.
What is genetics? Genetics, the study of scientific study of heredity.
What is fertilization? Fertilization is when the sperm cell and the egg meet and start to form a organism.
What is purebred? Purebred organism is the offspring of many generations that have the same trait.
What is gene? Gene is the word for factors that control a trait.
What is alleles? Alleles are different forms of gene.
What is dominant Allele? Dominate Allele is one whose trait always shows up in organisms when the allele is presented.
What is recessive allele? Recessive Allele, on the other hand, is hidden whenever the dominate allele is presented.
What is Hybrid? Hybrid Organism has two different alleles for trait.
What is probability? Probability is to predict the results of a particular event.
What is Punnet square? Punnet square is a chart that shows all the possible combinations of alleles that can result from a genetic cross.
What is phenotype? Phenotype is physical appearance.
What is genotype? Genotype is genetics makeup, or allele combinations.
What is homozygous? Homozygous is when it has two identical alleles.
What is Heterozgous? Heterozgous is when there are two different alleles in that trait.
What is codominace? Codominace is an inheritance pattern.
What is meiosis? Meiosis is when in sex cells it gets reduced to only 1/2 the amount of chromosomes of the parent.
What is messenger RNA? Messenger RNA copies the coded message from the DNA in the nucleus.
What is Transfer RNA? Transfer RNA carries amino acids to the ribosome and adds them to the growing protein.
What is mutation? Mutation is any change in a gene chromosomes.
