evolution the theory that organisms change over time
evolve to change over a long period of time
primate a group of mammals that includes monkeys, apes, and humans
common ancestor the most recent individual from which all organisms in a group are directly descended from
descend to come down/to come from
trace fossils things left behind by an organism like a bite mark or a footprint
mold fossil forms when an organism is destroyed and the mud hardens around it
resin fossil forms when small creatures get caught in sap from trees, which then hardens
body fossil forms when an organism is covered by mud before it decays and the minerals in the mud harden the bones.
