selectively permeable Some substances can pass through the membrane while others cant.
diffusion The main method by which small molecules move across the cell membrane
osmosis the diffusion of water molecules through a selectively permeable membrane.
passive transport The movement of dissolved materials through a cell membrane without using cellular energy.
active transport The movement of materials through a cell membrane
photosynthisis A cell captures sunlight uses it to make food.
autotroph Can make their own food
heterotroph Can not make their own food
chlorophyll The main photosynthesis pigments in chloroplasts
stomata Small openings on the bottom of leaves
pigment colored chemical compounds that absorb light.
