compound two or more elements combined chemically
element a substance that can not be broken down into a simpler substance

lipids energy-rich organic compounds made of carbon hydrogen and oxygen
protien large organic molecules made of carbon hydrogen oxygen nitrogen and in some cases sulfur
amino acid combines with cells to form proteins
enzyme a type of protein that speeds up chemical reaction in living things
nucleic acid very long organic molecules made of carbon oxygen hydrogen nitrogen and phosphorus contains instructions cells need to carry out functions
DNA the genetic material that carries information about an organism and is past from parent to offspring
RNA helps in producing proteins it is found in the cytoplasm
