TermDefinition
living Having all of the characteristics of living things.
nonliving Not having all characteristics of living things OR used to have the characteristics and went through a process.
prokaryote A cell WITHOUT a nucleus.
eukaryote A cell with a nucleus.
multicellular Made of many cells.
unicellular Made of one cell.
homeostasis Maintaining stable internal conditions.
autotroph Able to make its own food
cell The basic unit and structure of a living thing.
dead Something that once had all the characteristics of life but no longer does.
development The process of becoming more complex.
dormant Not currently showing the characteristics of life but can when the conditions are right.
heterotroph Having to consume other organisms for food.
organism Any living thing.
reproduction To produce offspring.
