metabolism The total of all the chemical reactions that take place in our cells
lysosome organelles that contain digestive enzymes (acid hydrolases). They digest excess or worn-out organelles, food particles, and engulfed viruses or bacteria.
ribosome complexes of RNA and protein that are found in all cells.
Golgi body organelle found in most eukaryotic cells.
vacuole a membrane-bound sac that plays roles in intracellular digestion and the release of cellular waste products.
endoplasmic reticulum an organelle found in all eukaryotic cells that is an interconnected network of tubules, vesicles and cisternae.
