2.1 and 2.2 Vocabulary terms.

TermDefinition
Classification Process of grouping things based on their similarities.
Taxonomy The scientific study of how things are classified.
Binomial Nomenclature A system of double naming.
Genus Classification grouping that contains similar, closely related organisms.
Species A group of similar species that can mate with each other and produce offspring.
Prokaryote Organisms with cells that lack a nucleus.
Dense area in a cell containing nucleic acids.
Eukaryote Organisms with cells containing nuclei.
Cell Cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things.
Microscope An instrument that makes small things appear larger.
Cell Theory A widely accepted explanation of the relationship between cells and living things.
