Cell the basic unit of structure and function in an organism
Unicellular single-celled organisms, include bacteria the numerous organisms on earth
Multicellular organisms that are composed of many cells that are specialized to do certain tasks
Stimulus a change in an organisms surroundings that causes the organism to react
Response an action or change in behavior
Developtment the process of change that occurs during an organisms life to produce a more complex organism
Spontaneous Generation the idea that living things can arise from nonliving sources
Autotroph organisms that make their own food
Hetertroph organisms that can not make their own food
Homeostatis the maintenece of stable internal conditions
2.2 Classification the process of grouping things based on their similarities
Taxonomy the scientific study of how living things are classified
Binomial Nomenclature the naming system Linneaus
Genus a classification grouping that contains similar, closely related organisms
Species a group of similar organisms that can mate with each other and produce offspring that can also mate and produce
Prokaryotes are organisms whose cells lack a nucleaus
Nucleaus a dense area in a cell that contains nucleic acids - the chemical instructions that direct the cells activities
