Besides using trees for timber, what is another reason we cut down trees? To clear land for agriculture
What are wetlands? Areas of land covered in shallow water
What is the main reason wetlands are being drained? For development of buildings & homes
What functions do wetlands serve? They provide a habitat for wildlife & they filter out pollution in the water.
What is an exotic species? A species brought into a new ecosystem.
What is an invasive exotic species? A species brought into a new ecosystem that takes over that ecosystem.
What is the term that describes restoring an ecosystem by human intervention? Restoration Ecology
What is reforestation? Replanting trees to regrow a forest.
What is the term that describes introducing a predator to control the population of a species? Biocontrol
What is the term that describes using plants & bacteria to remove toxins in soil & water? Bioremediation
What is extinction? The death of all individuals of a species.
