What is the plant cell organelle that is responsible for photosynthesis? Chloroplasts
What is the plant cell organelle that opens and closes that allows for gas exchange? Guard Cell
What is the plant cell organelle that makes the leaf water proof? Waxy Cuticle
When a guard cell is open, O2 & CO2 can be exchanged in the leaf. What is that opening called? Stomata
What is a level in a food chain called? Trophic Level
What is a producer? An organism that produces its own food by photosynthesis.
What is a herbivore? An organism that only eats producers.
What is a similarity & a difference between a carnivore & top carnivore? Similarity: They both eat other consumers Difference: A top carnivore is not eaten by other organisms but a carnivore may be eaten by other organisms.
What are organisms that break down waste & dead organisms called? Decomposers
What percentage of energy is lost as you move to the next trophic level? Ten percent
What is biomass? The total mass of all the cells of an organism.
What is biomagnification? The increase of concentration of a toxin as you move up the food chain.
What is trophic efficiency? A measure of the amount energy transferred between trophic levels.
