Adult | A full-grown animal or plant that is able to reproduce |
Chrysalis | The shell that holds the pupa during the metamorphosis of a butterfly or moth |

Complete Metamorphosis | The type of metamorphosis with 4 stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult |
Direct Development | When in an organism only changes is size and sometimes color from egg to adult; no metamorphosis occurs |
Egg | The first stage of life |
Incomplete Metamorphosis | The type of metamorphsis with 3 stages: egg, nymph, and adult |
Larva | The second stage in complete metamorphosis; the early, worm-like stage of the life cycle of an insect |
Metamorphosis | The change in the shape and form some organisms go through during their life cycles; metamorphosis actually means "change". |
Nymph | The second stage in incomplete metamorphosis; nymphs looks like small adults, but usually don't have wings |
Pupa | The third stage of complete metamorphosis when the organism changes from a larva to an adult |
