Reflex Arc sensory neuron, interneuron, motor neuron (SIM)
Opportunistic infection Pathogens that take advantage of a weakened immune system, and can cause devastating illnesses
Vaccine a method of administering pieces of a weakened virus so that one builds antibodies against it
Memory Bcells they make antibodies formed from previous infections that RECOGNIZE a pathogen and destroy it preventing you from getting sick AGAIN
Nervous body system that responds to stimuli from the environment, ex. light, temperature, sound
Excretory system body system that filters and removes waste from the blood
Endocrine The body system responsible for sending chemical messengers (hormones) throughout the blood
Adrenal gland gland responsible for the "fight or flight response" in times of stress or fear
Pancreas gland responsible for responding to glucose in the blood
Testis male gland that produces testosterone and is the site of meiosis for sperm cells
Ovary female gland that produces estrogen and is the site of meiosis for egg cells
Sensory neurons Nerve cells of the 5 senses: eyes, ears, skin, nose, mouth
Interneurons Nerve cells found in the spinal cord and brain
Motor neurons Nerve cells found in muscle and glands; they help you move your body and internal organs
Kidney name the organs that are responsible for removing waste from the blood
Excess salts and urea type of waste removed from the blood by the kidney
