Evolution

TermDefinition
Macroevolution evolution in a huge way, causing species to go extinct and allowing others to succeed. ex. KT event 65 million years ago
Microevolution evolution in a small way ex. a gene change in a population over 30 years. ex. furless vs. furred rabbits
Reproductive isolation separation of a species due to the inability of producing offspring
Geographic Isolation separation of a species due to a barrier like an ocean or a mountain.
Variation the subtle differences among a species due to genetic differences. Ex. Egrets have short, medium, and long legs.
Diversity It is the reason why the Peppered Moth of London survived in a a changing environment and did not go extinct
Mutations changes in DNA sequence that can be neutral, beneficial, or deadly
Speciation the formation of a new species
