The Cell

TermDefinition
Semi-permeable- allows SOME things to pass through but not others
Equilibrium- concentration is the same throughout the system
Channel protein- protein that allows certain molecules to pass in and out of cell, from high to low concentration.
Protein pump- protein that allows specific molecules in and out cell, from low to high concentration, and uses ATP
Endocytosis- the membrane surrounds particles, brings them into the cell, uses ATP energy.
Exocytosis- vesicles from in the cell, merge with membrane to send material out of cell, uses ATP energy
Cell wall- found only in plant cells, made of cellulose, provides cell with support.
Hydrophobic- scared of water
Hydrophilic- water loving
