Cow Eye Parts

Includes: pupil, iris, optic disk, etc. Also includes some parts of the brain.

TermDefinition
Pupil Hole where light enters.
Iris Muscles open and close opening. They widen more when there is less light.
Optic Disk (Blind Spot) Sends light messages to brain.
Suspensory Ligaments Contracts to lengthen lens.
Cornea Non-living structure that protects the eye.
Aqueous/Vitreous Humor/Gel Gives eye shape.
Retina Layer Images focus here.
Cones Detect color.
Rods Detect intensity. My science teacher explained it as seeing shades of grey/gray. (Hahaha)
Sclera Layer White of eye.
Fovea Consists of all cones, no rods.
Cerebrum Thinks.
Cerebellum Balance and Coordination part of brain.
Medulla Involuntary Actions part of the brain.
Lasik Eye Surgery Surgery that reshapes cornea. No pain. Usually lasts for about 10 years.
