Cell Part Functions

The Functions of cell parts

cell wall support and protect (plant cell only)
cell membrane outer barrier; controls what enters and leaves cell
cytoplasm "gel" of the cell
mitochondria powerhouse; energy producer
chloroplasts food producers; plant cells only
nucleus control center
chromosomes contain DNA
ribosomes make protein
vacuole water storage (mostly plants)
prokaryotic type of cell that does NOT have a nucleus. Example: bacteria
eukaryotic type of cell that has a nucleus and other membrane bound organelles. Example: plant and animal cells
plant cell cell wall, chloroplasts, large vacuole are only found in this type of cell
