| Term | Definition |

| Circulatory system | System that pumps blood to and from the body and lungs. Includes the heart, blood and blood vessels. |
| Respiratory system | System used for organs used for breathing. Includes the pharynx, larynx, bronchi, lungs and diaphragm. |
| Skeletal system | System that gives structural support and protection. Includes bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons. |
| Reproductive system | System used to reproduce. Includes all of the sex organs, such as ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina, mammary glands in women; the testes, vas deferens, seminal vesicles and prostate gland in men. |
| Digestive system | System that handles the digestion and processing food. Includes salivary glands, esophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, intestines, rectum and anus. |
| Urinary System | System that eliminates liquid waste from the body. Includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. |
| Integumentary system | The outside of the body. Includes skin, hair, fat, and nails. |
| Endocrine system | System of body control using chemicals called hormones made by glands. Includes the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, pineal gland, thyroid gland, and adrenal glands. |
| Lymphatic system | System that fights off infections and keeps the body healthy. Includes the lymph, lymph nodes, and vessels. |
| Muscular system | System that provides motion, maintains posture, and produces heat. Includes skeletal muscles, smooth muscles and cardiac muscle. |
| Nervous system | System for collecting, transferring and processing information. Includes the brain, spinal cord and nervous system. |
