Genetics the scientific study of heredity
Trait a characteristic that varies from one individual to another-can also be passed down
Hybrid offspring of crosses between parents with different traits
Segregation separation
Gamete sex cell that is also a haploid
Homozygous organisms that have two identical alleles for a certain trait
Heterozygous organisms that have two different alleles for the same trait
Phenotype the physical characteristics of an organism
Genotype the genetic makeup of an organism
Independent Assortment the independent segregation of genes during the making of gametes
Incomplete Dominance when an allele is not completely dominant over another
Codominance when both alleles contribute to the phenotype
Multiple Allele's genes that have more than two alleles
Polygenic Traits traits controlled by two or more genes
Haploid having a single set of chromosomes
Diploid having two sets of chromosomes
Meiosis reduction division where the number of chromosomes per cell is cut in half through the separation of homologous chromosomes in a diploid cell
Tetrad each chromosome pairs with its cooresponding homologous chromosome to make tetrads
