| Trait | a specific characteristic that is different from another person |
| Hybrid | offspring of parents with different traits |
| Segregation | separation |
| Gamete | sex cells |
| Homozygous | 2 identical alleles for one trait; same alleles |
| Heterozygous | 2 different alleles for the same trait; different alleles |
| Phenotype | physical traits |
| Genotype | genetic makeup |
| Independent Assortment | alleles separated into different groups Ex: same color, shape, etc. |
| Incomplete Dominance | one allele isn't completely dominant over another |
| Co-dominance | both alleles contribute to phenotype |
| Multiple Alleles | genes with more than two alleles |
| Polygenic Traits | having many genes |
| Haploid | half; one set of chromosomes Ex: sperm, egg. A.K.A- gametes |
| Diploid | two sets of chromosomes |
| Meiosis | mitosis with crossing over |
| Tetrad | chromosome pairs with corresponding homologous chromosome form a structure called this; 4 chromatids are in a tetrad |
