Animal Science The Systematic and organized study of the biological processes and principles that provide the basis for the humane care and efficient husbandry/managment of animals.
Husbandry The act of caring for domestic animals.(generally use term when referring to livestock species.)*Animal science is NOT husbandry
Disciplines Branches that focus on a particular aspect of Biology. *Each species based (zoology, botany, ect.) includes all of the disciplines.
Botany The study of plants
Zoology The study of animals
Microbiology The study of prokaryotes, organisms that lack nuclei
Renewable Products Products you can obtain several times from the same animal. *Ex: semen, embryos, offspring, milk
Terminal Products Product you can only obtain once from single species at time of slaughter.*Ex: Meat, Leather
